To be honest my first impressions of this book is that it sucks. Its very hard to understand and i get lost very easily. The names are just stupid and there pointless to be that long and confusing! I dont understand how this book won so many metals when it sucks so bad. I hate reading it and overall i just hate the book. I think Chinua Achebe should have put more interesting things into this book to keep the attention of the readers. And honestly i would like to burn this book then throw the ashes in to the river. I feel as if the igbo culture is stupid. Like why would you believe in such dumb things? It's obvious that the plants grow because of the weather and how much care you put into the plants, not because of some random goddess that make it grow if your nice to them? Like that does not make sense at all. There culture is different from ours because they believe that the gods and goddess control if the earth makes plants grow and we dont believe that. there also different from us because there allowed to have like 20 wives and hit them and get away with it, in america and our culture when someone hits there wife they go to jail. I think the only thing we have in common is that we both believe in a higher humanlike we believe in god and they believe in goddess's.

The igbo people define there masculinity by fighting each other and by the violence they show towards there wives and other people. If they win a fight they arethen known to have masculinity. Also in there culture woman can not be known as masculine no matter how strong they are.
In america they way we define masculinity is by how "buff" someone is. If someone has alot of muscles and can fight then they are known to have masculinity. Usually people who had no muscles are known to be masculine. Also in America woman can have masculinity unlike the woman in the igbo culture.

images.jpegI choose this picture because in america if you saw this person walking down the street he wouldnt have to prove anything to show that he has masculinity. You would label him with that just by the way he looks.

I think that the igbo wedding traditions are very different. I think its odd that you have to pay the father of the daughter you would like to marry. I don't think i would want my parents selling me off to someone. I also don't think its fair that the daughter doesn't get to pick who she wants to marry.

The igbo weddings are different then ours because it takes them a few years to get through the whole marriage process when it only takes about an hour for us. They also get to pick who they wanna marry like we do. When we get married the bride usually wears a white wedding dress, but in the igbo culture they wear a very crazy colored outfit.

The only way i think there wedding ceremony is like ours is that usually we have a big celebration after the ceremony, and the igbo people do that to.

The Reason i choose these two pictures is you could see the difference out wedding dress and the dress that the igbo tribe wears.
